FAR presents, Beginner’s Mind, a Youth Art Month collaborative exhibit curated by Christopher Warren Elam and Christie Cooper. Opening Friday, March 5th from 3-8pm in the 505 Theater.

“This exhibition rests as a reminder to take a fresh look at our young teacher’s perspectives and practices – to embrace the freedom to start over again and playfully re-engage our world with pictures and perspectives not yet seen before."

- Christopher Warren Elam

The show will feature three bodies of work: Christopher Elam of Omosaico Studios with Mosaic ‘translations’ of his son Felix’s drawings, Christie Cooper Ceramics will show a sampling of her work alongside some student creations, and a collection of works from emerging young artists in the community. Some works will be for sale.

Join us for a safe* and family friendly Gallery Walk Opening Reception on Friday March 5, from 3pm - 8pm. There will be live music from Martinie’s Boogie 3 at 6pm. The show can also be seen during our open hours, Wed-Fri between 2 and 5pm. Private showings are available by appointment.

On March 15 & 16th, FAR will be offering FREE youth workshops!

  1. Monday, March 15: Kids Mosaic Workshop
  2. Tuesday, March 16: Kids Ceramics Workshop

*We are working hard and staying informed so we can find ways to safely view and experience art! The opening will take place in a large, well-ventilated 1,700 sq ft space. We will enforce social distancing, mask wearing and gathering limits throughout the event. Our building has a brand new needlepoint bipolar ionization system for air purification and weather permitting, we will open large garage doors to the outside for more airflow. We understand that even with safety precautions, some people will not feel comfortable attending a public event so we will be sharing a live-stream of the exhibit opening to view from the comfort of your home!
