December Gallery Walk: Emilia Martin
“I saw a tree bearing stones in the place of apples and pears”
Location
Pictura - 202 S Rogers St. Bloomington, IN
Before Western science accepted the existence of meteorites, many cultures formed their own beliefs about them. Encounters with the celestial rocks have long inspired fear and reverence. Photographer Emilia Martin is fascinated by the stones, but also by the people who study and adore them. With whimsy and extensive research, Martin presents a series of photographs that playfully investigate the old stories and the collective memory surrounding meteorites.
“I saw a tree bearing stones in the place of apples and pears” by Emilia Martin will be on view at Pictura gallery from November 7 - January 30. Join us for the December Gallery Walk Reception on Friday, December 5th from 5-8pm. The FAR Photo Review Exhibition will be on view in the 505 Theater.
