Photographer, Claire A. Warden has curated a music playlist for her series Mimesis, currently on display at Pictura Gallery. You can find her statement and the full Spotify playlist below.

“Music is an essential part of my creative process in that it is always a part of my making. After so much reading, researching, and thinking on a topic, when I am ready to start making a new piece music helps quiet my mind and focus on the materials at hand.

The music I chose for this opening playlist is all from my regular rotation of work music — some are best to fill the background and some I use to get energized and focused. But with these specific songs I find a through line related to art and arts practice. Whether it is Sylvan Esso’s ​“Radio”, Sister Nancy’s ​“Bam Bam”, and Father John Misty’s ​“Now I’m Learning to Love the War” speaking about the realities and negotiations of being an artist to Sudan Archives’ ​“Confessions” that speaks to some ideas that I consider in my own work in a different way.”
