Peter Franck’s eerie landscapes are digitally constructed using components of archival analog photographs. They are disorienting, and I can’t tell if I am looking at the past or into the future.

I love that I can’t discern what is happening in this photograph, but I can feel it. It communicates the sensation of things falling apart. Dread hums below the surface of the image and seeps up through the stormy grays. And there is something delicate, almost elegant, in the way the evaporating tendrils reach towards one another before they fully disappear.
