City of Ghosts
Roberto De Mitri uses cityscapes as a way to represent what he sees as the inherent loneliness of human existence. In his images, individuals appear as ephemeral plumes of smoke that bend, float and evaporate in and out of the frame. It’s as if he isn’t photographing people, but rather their souls. We are transformed into transient clouds, silent and drifting. In De Mitris work, we are all lonely together.
