Lorenzo Poli | Solo Exhibition for 2025 Life Framer Series Award
August 28, 2025

In his series, The Geoglyphs of our Time Lorenzo Poli illuminates the issue of resource mining in South America. Poli photographs the mines that give the world its gold, copper and silver, zooming out to convey the scale of their impact on the planet’s surface. The project circles around one shape – the inverted cone, the gouge in the earth. Land has been scooped out in mythic proportions, carving something like an inverse pyramid into the ground, a monument to our unquenchable appetites. Just as ancestral geoglyphs reveal the stories of our past, these shapes, drawn through the act of mining, are the geoglyphs of our time.
Lorenzo Poli is the 2025 winner of Life Framer’s prestigious Series Award, juried by Mia Dalglish + Lisa Woodward. The corresponding solo exhibition will open at Pictura Gallery Friday Sept. 9th.
