Faceless
I love the whimsy in Carlo Ferrara’s project ‘Faceless’. For me, this whole series is built around a sense of play. Ferrara is the sole figure in his images, and he seems to be engaging in a kind of hide and seek with himself. He creates little tricks for the eyes- a little puff of smoke hanging perfectly (and inexplicably) in front of his face, a hat hanging on a wall exactly where his head should be. I love getting lost in his images. His skillful layering of shape and texture, light and shadow keep my eyes wandering through his photographs.
